Update: New renders show what the iPhone 8 might look like with the screen on and point to a dual-lens front-facing camera, while a sketch gives dimensions for the iPhone 8. The phone has also apparently entered mass production. Apple's iPhone 8 release date is expected to be three months from now, and we're already 3D Touch deep into new rumors about its 2017 smartphone. It's the tenth anniversary of the iPhone and the design is due for big changes. We haven't seen a brand new look in three years, so prepare to be wowed. The most immediate change may be to the name: iPhone 8, iPhone X or iPhone Edition, instead of just iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus. This is a major refresh for Apple and its name deserves a giant leap. Every iPhone 8 rumor really gives us a sense that Apple is overhauling its phone with at least one premium design – what we're calling the iPhone 8 – while also providing a basic specs bump for an iPhone 7S and iPhone 7...
There’s no avoiding the most obvious external design change between the iPhone 7 and iPhone 6S: the removal of the headphone jack.
Yes, Apple has done the unthinkable citing “courage” to advance standards and advising users switch to wireless headphones if they want to be able to listen to music and charge the iPhone 7 at the same time.
Understandably the move will polarize users, especially with no wireless or quick charging to make scenario this less painful. Apple will include a 3.5mm to Lightning adapter in the iPhone 7 box, but for some this risky change will prove to be a deal breaker.
iPhone 7 vs iPhone 6: Display
Two screen sizes, 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch firstly introduced with iPhone 6 and 6
Plus, come to iPhone 7 and 7 Plus as well. Talking about display, there is no
change on iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. The two new models still adopt retina display
with a resolution of 1334 x 750 pixels and 1920 x 1080 pixels as iPhone 6/6
Plus, both of which can drive us to enjoy more brilliant images during video
playback. Moreover, 3D Touch can bring new experience to interact with your
iPhone 7 but is not available on iPhone 6.
Apple iPhone 7 vs iPhone 6S vs iPhone 6: Hardware
The Apple iPhone 7 arrives with a new processor - the A10 Fusion. It has an embedded M10 motion coprocessor and it is said to be 40 per cent faster than the A9 and two-times faster than the A8. The GPU in the new iPhone 7 is claimed to add to the performance enhancement, with Apple saying it is 50 per cent better than the A9 and three-times better than the A8.
The battery life of the iPhone 7 is also said to be two-hours longer than the iPhone 6S. The iPhone 7 will be available in 32GB, 128GB and 256GB storage models.
The iPhone 6S features the A9 processor and an embedded M9 motion co-processor, along with 2GB of RAM. It was originally available in storage options of 16GB, 64GB and 128GB, but Apple has ditched the 16GB option and introduced a 32GB model here too. It has a 14-hour battery life.
The iPhone 6 has the A8 processor with a separate M8 motion co-processor, along with 1GB of RAM. Storage options available were 16GB and 64GB, but this iPhone has now been discontinued from Apple. The battery capacity was again 14-hours.
Cameras
iPhone 7: 12MP rear-facing, 7MP front-facing
iPhone 6S: 12MP rear-facing, 5MP front-facing
Not a lot has changed here, and the iPhone 7 and iPhone 6S both have 12MP rear-facing cameras. Apple claimed some improvements thanks to the new f/1.8 lens, six-element lens for sharper pictures, and Quad-LED True Tone flash that provides 50 per cent more light than before.
In some ways, this is a disappointment, as the iPhone 7 Plus has a new dual-lens camera with 2x optical and 10x digital zoom, but this won't appear on the iPhone 7.
However, the 7MP front-facing camera is a notable step up and should appeal to the selfie brigade.
